Graduation and Granola! ;p

I just wanted to take the opportunity today to say
Hip - Hip - Hooray!!
To all our graduates moving on from high school & seminary ~
to college, careers and craziness that can consume you
as you become the adults
our Heavenly Father meant for you to be!
Remember who you are ~
and always Choose the Right!
Even if you think you're SO far from Primary ;p
- remember that your choices now are more important than ever!
Remember you are loved and looked up to!
And to help you "To be Strong and of a Good Courage"
- here is the fabulous Granola recipe from Sister Matthews!
=)
**Great Girls Camp Granola**
5 C. Old fashioned (rolled) oats
1 C. Wheat germ
1/3 C. Flax Seed
1/2 C. Sunflower seeds
1/2 C. Chopped Almonds
1/3 C. Canola oil
1/3 C. Maple Syrup
1/4 C. Brown Sugar
1/2 t. Salt
1 C. Shredded Coconut
1 pkg Raisins or Craisins
Mix oats, wheat germ, seeds & nuts in large bowl, set aside. In separate bowl, mix oil, syrup, brown sugar & salt. Pour over dry ingredients and stir. Spread onto large jelly roll pan and bake at 300 for 25 minutes, stirring halfway thru. Let mixture cool slightly then add coconut and Craisins. Sister Matthews also added extra maple syrup for a stickier granola. (Original recipe is drier and makes a great cereal!) Add m&m's if you'd like and store in an airtight container.
Enjoy!

Missionary Calls - Get One!!

Last Wednesday the YW were called to serve as
Youth Missionaries
for a day. They learned who their companions were, what family they were going to teach and what "COUNTRY" they'd be eating dinner in!! Ha-ha!
Thanks to all our ward families that are helping this to be such a fun and special activity. The YM will recieve their calls shortly (so everyone can practice their lessons - hint-hint! ;p ).
On June 16th all youth will have the opportunity to teach a missionary lesson, have a special dinner and then meet back at the church for testimonies. We know this will turn out to be a great spiritual, fulfilling (and useful for the future!) experience for all who participate.

DELIVERY TIME!! Thank-you, thank-you to our fabulous neighbors!

The YM & YW braved the rainy weather for a great cause last night and found out we have
THEE MOST GIVING AND KIND NEIGHBORS EVER!!!
Thanks SO MUCH for all the great donations for the county animal shelter!

We received:

  • MOUNTAINS of "must-have" grocery bags,
  • Boat-loads of biscuits, blankets and butter (of the peanut kind) and
  • Dumpsters of detergent! Okay, maybe not real Dumpsters, but the back of my truck is REALLY full!

=)

Anyone who would like to accompany us for the delivery -
meet at the church this Saturday (24th) at 9 am.
This will be so much fun to watch their jaws drop and eyeballs pop with amazement!!
Come and play with the pups for a few - they miss you!
ha-ha! =)

SL County Animal Shelters need our help!

We recently took a tour of the animal shelter facilities at 511 W 3900 South and want to do a service project to help them. They have a great service so if you're looking for a new family pet (even a horse!) check them out!

Here is a list of items we will be collecting in the neighborhood this Wednesday:
  • dog treats (moist, bite-sized treats are the best)
  • peanut butter (for enrichment)
  • canned dog and cat food
  • bleach
  • paper towels
  • leashes and collars (new or lightly used)
  • pet shampoo
  • grocery bags
  • cat litter
  • laundry or dishwasher detergent (Dawn)
  • small blanket or quilt (20" x 24" works well)
  • cat toys to hang on cages (for ideas: http://cats.lovetoknow.com/Homemade_Cat_Toys
